My name is Rusty Dodson. I am bound for Oregon on a wagon train along with my younger sister and our parents. Enroute we are attacked by Blackfoot Indians and my Father is killed. My mother is shot in the derriere with an arrow. We are forced to leave the wagon train at Fort Laramie. A couple of other wagons stay with us. Together we immigrate to Idaho Territory instead of Oregon. We raise horses and produce mules which we sell to the army and trade with other wagon trains. We also trade with various Indian tribes.
Our community is racially mixed. This is the story of our survival.
